ABOUT
JENNY ANNE SHORTER
Hi. I’m Jenny – a UK-based artist, illustrator and surface pattern creator. For 30 years I worked as a graphic designer, turning my hand to pattern design more recently as a way of sharing my love of the natural world, visual art and colour.
This became a key part of my life after moving to the South Coast from London. It was wonderful to exchange the bustle and stress of my former life for walks by the sea and on the South Downs where I had time to appreciate the wild plants, birds and insects that surround me.
I want to share my love of nature, of patterns and bright colours, and to create beautiful things for people’s homes.
My key inspiration is the countryside where I live. Birds such as crows and jackdaws are a frequent sight on my walks, and you can see them in my work. The influence of historical painting and tapestry finds a way into my creative imagination too but with a more saturated and contemporary twist.
I work in watercolour, ink, photography and also digital illustration.
I create vibrant designs for homewares, wall papers and greetings cards and work hands-on with my fabrics too, sewing tea towels, cushions and bags.
All my patterns are available for licensing. I warmly welcome commissions and collaborations. Thank you for visiting my website. Please contact me for more information.
